- Gift Certificate Program/ Fundraising
- Parent Advisory Council (PAC) Web Design
- Parent Advisory Council (PAC) Executive
- Bottle drive for Grad
- Swing with Byng
- Grad Fundraisers
- Helping with Various Grad activities
- Many more…..
We need your help! Please send to email to: piercelef@telus.net and we will contact you via email to provide more info regarding volunteer opportunities.
Here are some examples of how PAC volunteers have helped Lord Byng Secondary students and staff in the past:
- Obtained gaming funds for the students of Lord Byng – without a functioning PAC, Lord Byng would lose access to these funds ($25,000 + in 2008-09)
- Raised funds through Close-the-Gap campaign & Gift certificate program – we raised approximately $15,000 in 2008-09 (THANKS to all those who contributed this year!)
- Coordinated the teachers’ requests for funds – over $40,000 has been awarded in 2008-09 to fund items like band instruments (wood piccolo and contrabass clarinet, sewing machine (drama), microscopes (15 new ones), refrigerator (science), timer set and scoreboard (2007), sound system for the gym, computers, digital cameras, and so much more
- Organized Thank You Luncheon for teachers, as well as monthly parent information sessions like the recent Safeteen workshop, SACY workshops on drug and alcohol and drug prevention , BCAA on safe driving, etc
- Advocated for Lord Byng’s students/staff: PAC maintains links with DPAC, the school board and others and provides input on issues like seismic upgrading, student enrolment, technology equipment needs, school budgets, etc. For example, Byng PAC representatives have been very involved with the issues surrounding the need for schools at UBC and the overcrowding that has resulted at schools like Lord Byng.
- Supported the dry grad and graduation activities
